The Upspun button

“Upspun it” is a bookmark that sends a product name to Upspun for an owner-based verdict. Save it once, then use it while shopping. It is not a browser extension and does not place orders. A free Upspun account is required to run searches; your normal search limit still applies.

Set it up on a computer

  1. Open this page in your regular browser, not inside TikTok, Instagram or another app.
  2. Show your bookmarks bar: in Chrome or Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + B on Windows or Command + Shift + B on Mac. In Firefox, right-click the top toolbar and choose Bookmarks Toolbar → Always Show. In Safari on Mac, choose View → Show Favorites Bar.
  3. Click and hold the Upspun it link below. Drag it onto the bookmarks bar under the browser’s address bar, then release. Do not just click it on this page.
  4. Check that a bookmark named Upspun it now appears on the bar. If dragging is unavailable, use the manual setup below.

Use it while shopping

  1. Open a page for one specific product in your browser, such as a Sony WH-1000XM5 listing. Avoid search results, shopping carts and category pages.
  2. For the most accurate search, highlight the brand and model name on the page. For example, select “Sony WH-1000XM5,” rather than the price, a whole review or “wireless headphones.”
  3. Click your saved Upspun it bookmark, not the link on this instruction page. Upspun opens in a new tab with that name in the search.
  4. If prompted, sign in to your free Upspun account. If sign-in does not return you to the search, click the bookmark again from the product page.
  5. Check the name shown in Upspun. If it picked the wrong text, correct the brand and model in the search field and submit it. Read the verdict, deal-breakers and linked sources before deciding.

Without highlighted text, it tries the product heading first, then the page title. Store pages vary, so automatic detection may include extra words or choose the wrong heading. It does not send the entire page, your cart or your purchase history.

Manual setup: phones or no dragging

Copy the complete code below. It should start with javascript:. Paste it into a bookmark’s address/URL field, not into its name or a search box. Only save bookmark code from a source you trust.

iPhone or iPad — Safari

  1. Open this page in Safari and copy the code above.
  2. Tap Share → Add Bookmark. Name it Upspun it and save it in Favorites or another folder you can find.
  3. Open Safari’s Bookmarks list (the book icon), find the bookmark, tap Edit, then tap the bookmark. Replace its address with the copied code and save with Done. Keep javascript: at the beginning.
  4. Open a product page in Safari. If possible, select its brand and model. Open the Bookmarks list and tap Upspun it to run it on that page.

Android — Chrome

  1. Open this page in Chrome and copy the code above.
  2. Open the three-dot menu and tap the star to bookmark the page.
  3. Go to three-dot menu → Bookmarks. Use the menu next to that bookmark to choose Edit. Set its name to Upspun it, replace the URL with the full code and save.
  4. Open a product page. Tap the address bar and type Upspun it. Choose your saved bookmark from the suggestions, not a Google search suggestion. Opening it directly from Chrome’s Bookmarks list may not run the code.

Manual setup on a computer

Bookmark this page using your browser’s star or bookmark menu. Right-click the saved bookmark and choose Edit (or Properties in Firefox). Rename it Upspun it, replace its address/URL with the complete code above and save. Then open a product page and click that bookmark.

Browser versions and managed devices can restrict bookmark code. Phone setup is not supported in every browser; if yours refuses it, open Upspun directly and enter the product name instead.

If something goes wrong

Clicking the link here only shows a message
That is expected. Drag it to your bookmarks bar or save the code manually, then use the saved bookmark on a product page.
It opens this instruction page again
The bookmark saved this page’s normal address instead of the code. Edit the bookmark and replace the entire URL with the code above.
Nothing opens
Check that the saved URL begins with javascript: and contains the full code. Check your browser’s blocked-pop-up indicator and allow Upspun to open from the store page if you trust it. Use a regular product webpage, not a browser settings page, PDF or an in-app browser. If the site or browser blocks bookmark code, search the product directly on Upspun.
The product name is wrong
Highlight only the brand and model on the store page and run the bookmark again. You can also correct the search inside Upspun.
Upspun asks me to sign in or says I reached my limit
The bookmark does not bypass account requirements or daily search limits. Sign in to use your available searches; if you have reached the daily limit, wait for it to reset.
